How to make a Remote Access connection between two devices
NOTE: Duet Remote Access works on any combination of Desktops/Laptops and operating systems. The Mac and PC images are just for demonstration.
Steps for Device 1:
Open Duet Display on each device
On Device 1 (Mac), please go to the ‘Remote Devices’ tab
Create Access Codes for Attended and Unattended Access by clicking on each check box
Follow the instructions for the Access code and click save once completed
Copy the Device ID and Access Code, then share with Device 2 (PC) so Device 2 (PC) can View and Control Device 1 (Mac)
Steps for Device 2:
Open Duet Display
Go to the 'Remote Devices' tab."
On the right sidebar, under "Connect to Another Remote Device," enter Device 1 (Mac)’s Device's ID
Enter the Attended or Unattended 'Access Code'
Press ‘Connect’
Device 2 (PC) will see a pop-up screen regarding the Device ID and Access code being validated
Device 1 (Mac)
Attended Connection with “Attended Access Code”:
During an Attended Connection, Device 1 (Mac sharing its screen with PC) can choose to give 'View' (View only), 'Control' (Full control), or Deny access to Device 2 (PC)
Unattended Connection with “Unattended Access Code”:
If Device 2 (PC) enters the Unattended Access Code for Device 1 (Mac), then Device 1 (Mac) will not see the above pop-up. Device 2 (PC) will have full “unattended” control and access to Device 1 (Mac).

Device ID
Each desktop will be assigned a ‘Device ID’ - this is a unique identifier
The ‘Device ID’ contains only numbers in the format: # ### ### ### (e.g. 1 075 502 437)
The ‘Device ID’ can be regenerated at any time
These connections are mirror-only
Access Codes
There are two codes, one for "Attended" access and one for "Unattended" access.
Unlike the "Device ID," the "Access Codes" are set by the user
The "Access Code" must meet specific requirements to be valid
The "Access Code" may be changed at any time
Incoming "Remote Access" connections with a valid "Device ID" but an incorrect "Access Code" will be automatically denied.
If the codes for "Attended" and "Unattended" access are the same, the "Unattended" access will take priority over the "Attended" access.
Types Of Remote Access Connections:
Attended Access: the host/sender device “sharing” its screen must “accept” the connection before it starts. There are two different types:
View Only: the client/receiver device (trying to access the other device’s screen) will only be able to view the host/sender’s device screen; they will not have control.
View with Control: the client/receiver device will be able to view and control the host/sender device; they will have full control.
Unattended Access: connections that start automatically; there’s no explicit interaction required from the host/sender device.
