How to connect Remotely between your devices using Duet Display

Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) and Desktop-to-Desktop (D2D) Local connections enable users to wirelessly connect two devices using Duet Display. This feature provides full access to device capabilities—including touchscreen, external keyboard, and stylus support—to control the host/sender device. RDP connections refer to connections between a PC or Mac and an iPad/iPhone or Android device, while D2D connections are established between two computers.

Unlike Wired and Wireless (Air) connections, RDP and D2D require both devices to be logged into the same Duet account. For a Local connection, both devices must be connected to the same network access point. However, these connections also offer the flexibility of allowing Proxy/Relay connections.

How to use:

For Remote Desktop Local connections using an iOS/Android device:

  1. Ensure Duet is running on both devices and they're connected to the same network
  2. Sign in to the same Duet account on both devices
  3. Activate 'Screen Sharing Enabled' on the host/sender computer
  4. On the client iOS or Android device, navigate to the 'Air' tab
  5. Wait for the host/sender computer to appear in the available devices list
  6. Tap 'Mirror' or 'Extend' to initiate the desired connection

For Desktop to Desktop Local connections using 2 computers:

  1. Ensure Duet is running on both devices and they're connected to the same network
  2. Sign in to the same Duet account on both devices
  3. Activate 'Screen Sharing Enabled' on the host/sender computer
  4. On the client computer, navigate to the 'My Devices' tab
  5. Wait for the host/sender computer to appear in the available devices list
  6. Click 'Mirror' or 'Extend' to initiate the desired connection
