We recommend using a 5GHz! Duet can be used on a 2.4GHz or 5GHz network. However, 2.4GHz is likely to become saturated faster since it is still the most commonly used by devices (which also includes Bluetooth devices). Follow these steps to switch from 2.4GHz to 5GHz (if available):
For PC:
Open the WiFi menu
Look at your available networks. You'll likely be able to identify the 5GHz network by the WiFi's name (ex. home-5.0, home_5G, etc). Select the 5GHz network.
If you cannot identify which is the 5GHz network, try viewing the properties of your current network. Look for "Network band" where it will say 2.4GHz or 5GHz
2. For mac:
Open the WiFi menu
Look at your available networks. You'll likely be able to identify the 5GHz network by the WiFi's name (ex. home-5.0, home_5G, etc). Select the 5GHz network.
If you cannot identify which is the 5GHz network, click on the WiFi icon in the top navigation bar while holding down the Option/Alt key.
You will see detailed information about your Wi-Fi. In the middle it will show which channel your Wi-Fi is using.
“Channel” will either say in the brackets 2.4GHz or 5GHz.
If you need assistance in buying a 5GHz capable WiFi device, consult with your local internet provider to help you choose the best option for your needs. For any additional questions, assistance, or information, please email us at team@duetdisplay.com - we're happy to help!
